Edit, sign and scan PDFs in your browser
A free PDF editor that runs entirely on your device: change text, sign, scan paper with your camera and organise pages without uploading a file.
Or drop a PDF here. Files stay on this device. Nothing is uploaded.
What you can do
Edit existing text
Click a line of text and retype it. The font, size and colour of the original are kept.
Sign documents
Draw your signature, type your name or use a photo of your signature, then place it on the page.
Scan with your camera
Capture paper pages with automatic edge detection, straightening and clean-up filters.
Recognise scanned text
OCR turns the text in scans and photos into text you can search and edit.
Add text and marks
Type on any page and add highlights, shapes, arrows, freehand drawing, whiteout, check marks and the date.
Turn images into a PDF
Combine JPG and PNG images into one document, one picture per page.
Merge PDFs
Add the pages of another PDF and arrange everything in the order you need.
Split and extract pages
Save a range of pages as a new PDF, or export a single page as a PNG image.
Organise pages
Reorder, rotate, duplicate, delete and insert pages.
Watermark
Stamp text such as DRAFT across the pages, with the size, angle and opacity you choose.
Page numbers
Number the pages with your choice of position, format and starting number.
Password protection
Encrypt a PDF with AES-256 so it can only be opened with a password.
How it works
- Open a PDF, scan a document with your camera, or start from a blank page.
- Make your changes: edit text, sign, add notes, or rearrange the pages.
- Select Download. The finished PDF is saved straight to your device.
Private by design
Most online PDF tools send your document to a server, change it there and send it back. This editor works differently. The program that reads and changes the PDF is downloaded to your browser and runs on your own device, so the document does not need to go anywhere.
- Your PDFs, scans, photos and signature are never uploaded.
- There is no account, so there is nothing to sign up for and no stored copy of your files.
- Password protection is applied on your device, so the password is not sent anywhere either.
The browser does download the editor itself and, the first time they are needed, a few supporting files such as fonts and the text recognition model. Those downloads contain no part of your document.

Frequently asked questions
Is PDF Editor free?
Yes. Every tool is free to use. There is no account to create, and no watermark is added to your documents.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Your PDF is opened and edited inside your browser, on your own device. The document is never sent to us or to anyone else.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. The editor works in the browser on phones and tablets as well as computers, and the scanner can use your phone camera.
Can I edit a scanned PDF?
Yes. Run text recognition (OCR) on the scanned pages first. The recognised text can then be searched and edited. Accuracy depends on the quality of the scan.
Is the signature a legally binding digital signature?
The tool places a visible image of your signature on the page. It is not a certificate-based digital signature and does not add cryptographic proof of who signed. Whether a signature image is acceptable depends on the document and on who is asking for it.
Which browsers are supported?
Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, on desktop and mobile. The browser needs JavaScript and WebAssembly, which all of these provide.
Can I use it offline?
Yes. After your first visit the editor is stored by your browser and opens without a connection, and you can install it as an app. A few extras, such as the text recognition model and some fonts, are downloaded the first time they are needed.
Is there a file size or page limit?
There is no fixed limit. Because the work is done on your device, very large files depend on the memory your browser has available, and may be slow on older phones.
